That’s about how I felt about my topic tonight, until I sort of got into the spirit of the party and now I’m looking forward to it. However, since I spent my day with this activity, I must again provide a “teaser”1 for tomorrow’s blog which should be Lost centric.
To cover Lent, I got in my usual work out today, so I’m good there. One more week of less eating out in Nashville, which I should be able to get through, however I will be there for three nights this time, so 50% more temptation.
To keep this blog short and succinct2, I shall get to what I alluded to earlier. Today, I spent several hours putting together a CD for the upcoming CD party that will take place in a couple weeks. Prior to actually gathering music, I had thought it would be quite stupid, because generally I don’t like “old people parties”. “Old people parties” are, to me, functions that center on forced topics of discussion, rather than just hanging out and talking about whatever strikes your fancy. Examples of this are “games”3 such as Loaded Questions, Apples to Apples, Taboo, etc. I could discuss this further probably, but that is not the purpose of this blog. The point is, I’m looking forward to what I previously expected would be a stupid gathering because I think I’ve done an ok job with a moderately superficial theme. I certainly don’t expect to “win”4 because my friends are much more creative than I am when it comes to things like this, but I do think I’ll enjoy seeing what everyone else put together and thinking to myself, “Man, that was clever.”
Currently I have 16 tracks for a moderate 50 minutes, and I think I’ll stick with that. As I didn’t attend the one last year, I don’t know if we actually listen to the entire thing or what, but the order is being perfected now and should hopefully flow well. Ideally, you’d listen to the entire thing straight to see the flow from one song to the next, but if not, it’s probably not a big deal. Oh yeah, it’ll definitely be a game too, with audience participation, but it’ll only have one winner5 and a lot of losers.
Catch you on the flipside.
1 “Teaser” in as much as I am referencing tomorrow’s topic, like they do on news shows, but not a true teaser since I sincerely doubt that my readers will be reloading my webpage constantly tomorrow night, anxiously awaiting my new blog.
2 A description such as this generally implies that the writer does it for the benefit of his readers. In this case, I did it because I’m tired and will be going to bed soon.
3 Games should have a clear goal of winning or losing. These are new age “games” where we all win because we all learn something new about our friends (Awwwww, how sweet).
4 Given how competitive we are, I assume you can “win” a CD party since it’s not a CD game party. But even if you can, I’m sure we’re probably all winners3.
5 Unless there’s a tie, then I’ll have to split the prize in half, which will make it worthless because you can’t split a gift card or dollar bill in half and have it retain it’s value.
